DALLAS COACH DAVE TIPPETT QUOTES
Monday, December 19, 2005 versus Minnesota
Were you worried about this type of game?
“Yes, they wait for mistakes and they take advantage of them. They are a patient well coached team. You have to stay with a game plan with a team like this, and we didn’t create enough scoring chances tonight.”
How do you feel the goalies played?
“I know Manny (Manny Fernandez) very well, he’s a quality goal tender. He came up with some big saves for them, but I thought our goalie played very well tonight too. After Gaborik’s (Marian) goal we had a few chances where I thought we could tie it. You always feel like you could do better. We have to regroup, because we have one more road game left in Columbus.”
Your thoughts on the game tonight.
“This type of game has been building up. It seems like we haven’t been paying the price lately, but today we did. They are a patient team, and very good at the transition game.”
How do you feel the road trip has gone?
“It’s been a good trip, there shouldn’t be a fatigue factor setting in. For just playing back to back games, because we had two days off before we played Chicago last night. We shouldn’t be tired at all. Tonight’s game had a good pace from start to finish. At times I thought both teams played well. There wasn’t too many second and third chances because they do a good job of clearing the puck.”
Your thoughts on making the Olympics team.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to be going back. It’s real special to me. I’m sure all the guys that got picked are happy they are going.”
