HOUSTON, Texas – The American Hockey League’s Houston Aeros announced today that Rob Daum will not return as coach for the 2007-2008 season. After meeting with parent club officials in Minnesota, both Daum and the organization decided a change was in order. The process of selecting a new coach shall begin immediately.
Daum, 49 (1/19/58), led the Aeros to a 77-75-8 mark in his two seasons in Houston after replacing Todd McLellan in July 2005. The Aeros went 50-24-3-3 in 2005-06 and 27-43-4-6 in 2006-07.
Prior to joining the Aeros, Daum spent 10 seasons behind the bench at the University of Alberta, where the Churchbridge, Sask, native led the Golden Bears to an impressive 345-79-32 overall record (.792 percentage) and a 218-37-25 conference mark (.823).
