EDMONTON COACH CRAIG MACTAVISH QUOTES
Wednesday, November 23, 2005 versus Minnesota
It looked like this game was going to go into overtime.
“Yeah, we got a break at the end. It deflected off Kuba’s (Filip) stick and threw him. But we were due for a break, especially Ethan (Moreau). To seem him get a break there and win us the hockey game. But we hit three or four posts there in the course of the game. Made a great glove save. “
Can you talk about your team a little bit. About the difference when it stays out of the penalty box than when it stays in the penalty box?
“Well we played well. We played a really solid game I thought, five on five. We took a lot of penalties, some of them justified. I didn’t have too much of an issue the penalties that they called on us. Had a little bit of an issue with a few of their (the Wild) infractions that weren’t penalized, but overall I can’t complain about the officiating.”
The team has been in the penalty box a lot. Does that make a difference?
“It’s so hard out there. We try to play hard and a lot of our penalties come from just trying to push through the puck and work hard. We gave up two power play goals in the first. You can almost call it a game when you do that, but our penalty kill has been solid and we did a better job in the second and third to kill penalties.”
