Claude Julien Postgame Quotes

MONTREAL COACH CLAUDE JULIEN

Saturday, December 17, 2005 versus Minnesota

You played most of the game without two of your forwards, how do you think your team did in terms of enduring from the forward lines:  “I think they did a great job up front.  We were down to three lines into overtime with the injury to Plekanec [Tomas] and the expulsion of Steve Begin, we were short quite early but our guys competed hard until the end.  Unfortunately, I think Jacques Lamaire and the Minnesota Wild went through something tough the last game here against Boston.  It think it was our turn tonight.”

You played hard and it was another tough loss:

“We were short on the bench any ways and then we lost two centermen in the first period and we played with three lines.  It was my first game in a long time, so it’s a tough loss.  We got the point, I guess we have to be happy with that.  We had a chance with the penalty shot. It was just a tough loss.”

How special was the opening faceoff against your brother:

“Well, we scored a goal right way so… [chuckling].  Yeah, it was a special game any way.  It was very nice for both of the two coaches to get us out there and we appreciate it.  But it did feel awkward to play against him.”
