SAINT PAUL -- The Minnesota Wild announced today that registration is now open for the fourth annual Minnesota Wild Breakaway 10K/5K/1-Mile Run, presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota. Celebrating the start of the 2017-18 NHL season, the run will take place on Saturday, Sept. 16 in Saint Paul beginning at 8:30 a.m. All races will begin and end near Xcel Energy Center and proceeds will benefit the Herb Brooks Foundation.
The "Herbie's Hill" contest returns for racers participating in the 5K or 10K runs. Herbie's on the Park gift cards will be awarded for the top male and female runners with the fastest splits in each distance from the bottom to the top of East 2nd Street between Jackson Street and Kellogg Boulevard.
Racers can register for the Wild Breakaway Run online at wild.com/breakaway. Participants who register before July 10 receive the largest discount on entry fees. Fees will increase on July 10, August 21 and on the day of the race so racers are encouraged to sign up early.

The first-place male and female finishers at each distance will also receive a 2016-17 team signed hockey stick. Awards will also be given to the top male and female Wild Season Ticket Holders in each race.
All participants who register by Monday, Aug. 20 will receive a Wild Breakaway t-shirt. All runners are qualified to win two tickets in a suite for the Minnesota Wild vs. Dallas Stars preseason game at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30. Fifteen winners will be randomly selected. All race finishers will receive a Wild Breakaway Race medal and are eligible to win a 2016-17 team signed stick.
