Barry Trotz Postgame Quotes

by Staff Writer / Minnesota Wild

How did you play tonight:

“I thought we played fairly decent.  The goals that they got were a little unfortunate on our part.  They had good plays on our part.  They threw pucks at the net and got tips and a deflection.  Those things just happen.  As far as the game, you have bodies flying all over, its just part of the game.  I thought our power plays got us back in the game to that point, we had that one breakdown defensively and Foster made his presence felt with a big shot there.  I thought Fernandez was really good, it held the fort with good play at the crease.  He stopped Upshall in tight, he got Kariya on a breakaway and Adam Hall on a rebound.  When it came down to it and we were getting back in the game I thought Fernandez stood tall for them and they got that late power play goal.  I don’t think we played poorly.  I just think we didn’t capitalize on our chances.”

How do you think you played tonight

“It was 3-2, a very close game then they score on the power play, two goals within four minutes.  That is always tough, it shifts the momentum.”

That first one, did it come off Yanic’s stick:

“Yep.  He was trying to deflect it.  It just hit the stick.  That is why basically they scored because there was nobody around the puck but him and I wasn’t expecting him to put the stick into that shot.  So I was not even ready for the rebound and you can see the results.”
