Aeros Win A Weekend Pair

The Houston Aeros earned its first win on the season and went 2-0-1-0 on the weekend, beating the Texas Stars twice and losing to the Milwaukee Admirals in overtime.

On Friday, the Aeros beat the Stars, 5-1, at home with defenseman Brian Connelly leading the way with a goal and two helpers. Forward Zack Phillips scored his first professional goal, while David McIntyre, Charlie Coyle and Jason Zucker added tallies. Goaltender Matt Hackett made 26 saves for his first win on the season. In the second contest against Texas, the Aeros went on the road and matched its effort on the previous night, securing a 5-3 win. Mikael Granlund led the charge, scoring two goals and setting up another two. Winger Nick Palmieri added two goals and Kris Foucault scored his first of the season. Jason Zucker and Marco Scandella helped out on the offensive end, both setting up plays with two assists. Houston netminder Darcy Kuemper made his season debut, stopping 24 shots in the win. Sunday, the Aeros took its fifth point on the weekend in an overtime loss to the Admirals, 5-4. Palmieri kept the hot hand going, scoring his third on the year with only 58 seconds remaining to force overtime. Aeros defensemen Jonas Brodin and Chay Genoway scored and Foucault marked his second goal on the weekend. Hackett made 26 saves in the losing effort. For the full game recap, click here.
