Fans will have the chance to watch up-and-coming Wild prospects during the final weekend of September.
The Houston Aeros, the Wild’s American Hockey League affiliate, will host three days of training camp at Xcel Energy Center, which includes two scrimmages that are free and open to the public. The scrimmages, presented by Andersen Windows, are at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29 and 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 30. Gate One of Xcel Energy Center will open for the scrimmages at 10:30 a.m. Saturday and 9:30 a.m. Sunday. Wild.com will carry a live stream of both scrimmages.
Wild prospects set to attend Aeros training camp include: D Jonas Brodin, RW Brett Bulmer, RW Charlie Coyle, C Mikael Granlund, LW Johan Larsson, C Zack Phillips. Players that spent time in a Wild sweater last season and will be at the camp include: C David McIntyre, RW Carson McMillan, RW Jarod Palmer, D Tyler Cuma, LW Kris Foucault, D Chay Genoway, G Matt Hackett, D Steven Kampfer, C Chad Rau, D Marco Scandella and LW Jason Zucker. Aeros staff and players will head to Houston following Sunday’s scrimmage. The team will take the ice at the Sugar Land Ice & Spots Center for the first time on Tuesday, Oct. 2, and open its preseason at the Texas Stars (Austin) on Wednesday, Oct. 3.
At both scrimmages, Xcel Energy Center will serve as a drop-off location for the fourth annual Used Hockey Equipment Drive, a partnership between the Wild, Let’s Play Hockey and Minnesota Hockey. Fans that donate used equipment at the scrimmages will be entered to win autographed Aeros merchandise. Five prizes will be awarded during each scrimmage. From 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 6, the collected equipment will be distributed to hockey associations and at Xcel Energy Center.
The Aeros will host the Rockford IceHogs, the AHL affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks, at 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18 at Xcel Energy Center. Minnesota Wild season ticketholders will receive complimentary tickets to the game equal to the number of Wild seats they hold.
