Aeros Earn Two Weekend Wins

The Houston Aeros continued to roll, winning a pair of weekend games.

Friday, the club came from behind to beat the Oklahoma City Barons, 6-4. Forward Justin Fontaine scored twice and added an assist. Chad Rau scored the eventual game-winning goal at 3:35 of the third period, giving the Aeros its fourth straight game with a point. Forwards Charlie Coyle and Mikael Granlund also scored. Defenseman Marco Scandella added two assists, giving him seven helpers in the last four games. In relief, Houston goalie Darcy Kuemper stopped 14 of 15 shots in 44:22 of work for the win. The Aeros stayed hot on Saturday, earning a home win against the Milwaukee Admirals, 4-0. Goaltender Darcy Kuemper stopped 33 Admirals shots for the shutout, his third win on the season.

Coyle scored twice to lead the Aeros. The power forward leads the team with five goals on the year. Picking up an assist on Coyle’s first goal, Granlund extended his goal-scoring streak to five games. Center Johan Larsson picked up his first professional goal in North America in the third period of the game, and added an assist on Coyle’s second goal. Defenseman Brian Connelly scored his second goal of the season and added an assist in the winning effort.To read the game recap, click here.
