Connor Dewar

DALLAS --With its final pick of the third round (92nd overall) in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, the Minnesota Wild selected center Connor Dewar from the Everett Silvertips of the WHL. The Wild acquired this pick from the Vegas Golden Knights in exchange for Alex Tuch during the 2017 Expansion Draft.

Here's a look at Dewar's credentials:
Height: 5-foot-10
Weight:177 lbs.
Shoots: Left
Hometown: Gilbert Plains, Manitoba
2017-18 team: Everett Silvertips
NHL Central Scouting Rank: 117 (North American skaters)

Scouting report: Dewar had a breakout year with the Everett Silvertips during the 2017-18 season. Scoring 38 goals and 30 assists in 68 games, he powered along at a point-per-game pace -- far surpassing his previous season totals of 30 and 18 points in his two earlier years with Everett.
His 38 goals led the Silvertips and ranked 20th amongst all WHL players. Dewar has totaled 116 points (63-53=116) and 108 penalty minutes in 211 games during three seasons with Everett (2015-18).
Wearing the "A" in 2017-18 for the Silvertips, Dewar finished the season with a plus-23 rating. Though he's a smaller forward, Dewar appears to be unafraid of playing a physical game.
The Silvertips announced in May that Dewar would captain the team for the 2018-19 campaign. Per head coach Dennis Williams, Dewar "brings remarkable character, a tireless work ethic and proven abilities to the table. His dedication and the example he sets every day was vital to the success we enjoyed this past season."
Brent Flahr, Wild senior vice president of hockey operations: "Dewar is a hard working winger that plays with energy each shift and has a nose for the net."
