The American Hockey League has released its 2014-15 regular season schedule. The Iowa Wild, Minnesota’s AHL affiliate, opens play on the road on Friday, Oct. 10 against the San Antonio Rampage.
Iowa will host its first home game against the Milwaukee Admirals at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17 at at Wells Fargo Arena. The first 5,000 fans to Opening Night will receive an Iowa Wild magnetic schedule, presented by Hicklin Garage Doors. Iowa will play a 76-game regular season, with 38 home and 38 road games. AHL realignment has placed the Iowa Wild in the West Division. It will play West rivals a total of 32 games (eight times each). The Wild will host four games and play four road games against Texas, San Antonio, Oklahoma City and Charlotte.
The AHL Board approved a few rule changes for the 2014-15 season, notably the extension of regular-season overtime to a seven-minute period that will include three-on-three play for as much as four minutes.
