Living Well Disability Services

Mission: Living Well Disability Services delivers exceptional services that transform the lives of people impacted by disabilities.

Living Well Disability Services was founded as Dakota's Children in 1972 in West St. Paul by parents, volunteers and community partners. Today as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, we provide intensive, person-centered services to hundreds of people impacted by disabilities.

Now in our 46th year, we have grown from one location in Dakota County to 33 homes across the Twin Cities metro area. Our expert and professional staff support individuals so they can live with independence, choice, and dignity. We serve a broad range of individuals impacted by intellectual, developmental and physical disabilities by providing innovations in service, accessibility, wellness, and technology.

Federal and state medical assistance programs cover the most basic costs of housing and 24-hour care. Our personalized programs, adaptive equipment, assistive technology, and wellness activities that directly benefit those we support are possible only through the generosity of individual donors and our foundation supporters. These programs are what make our services exceptional.

We provide:

Residential Services - Our Residential Services provide individual choices about daily living, health services, and recreational opportunities. We provide 24/7 support with expert staff presence focused on wellness and person-centered care.

Customized Services - Our team provides support to individuals impacted by disabilities who live in their own homes or with family.

Exceptional Services - Services include innovative wellness programs, person-centered support, professional staff and much more.

If we can help transform the life of someone you support that's impacted by disabilities, please reach out to us to learn more. We currently have a few openings in our residential homes.

Quote from a parent of someone we support:
"Words could never express my feelings for the past 27 years Mike has been at home on Central. It is the greatest gift for my oldest child to be in a stable and safe environment, cared for in every possible way."
- Janice T., Mike's Mom

We are launching a new volunteer program.

If your service or work group wants to have a direct impact on people living with disabilities, consider "adopting" one of our 33 residentials homes located throughout the metro. By doing this, you become part of the extended family of caring by participating in regular activities and projects for or with the adult people we support in that home. Projects range from helping with regular home maintenance projects like spring yard cleaning to cooking, and arts & craft activities.
