Be The Match

Delivering Cures For Blood Cancers and Blood Diseases.

For patients with blood cancers like leukemia and lymphoma, and other life-threatening diseases, a cure exists.

BE THE MATCH® IS THE WORLD'S LEADING NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION FOCUSED ON SAVING LIVES THROUGH BLOOD STEM CELL TRANSPLANTATION AND CELL THERAPIES.

We are a community of contributors, blood stem cell and bone marrow donors, volunteers, health care professionals and researchers who deliver cures by helping patients get the life-saving transplant they need.

Patients Depend On Us

  • Every three minutes in the United States someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer.
  • 70 percent of patients do not have a fully matched donor in their family. Because of that they turn to the Be The Match Registry®.
  • Each year, approximately 18,000 patients are diagnosed with a life-threatening disease that could be cured by a blood stem cell transplant.

Thanks to partners like you, we have facilitated more than 100,000 transplants in our 32-year history, 6,553 of which occurred in 2019, giving patients across the country hope for a second chance at life. In addition, funding partners help us to:

  • Grow and diversify our Be The Match Registry®
  • Provide financial assistance to patients in need to increase access to transplant
  • Accelerate research to make transplant safer and find cures for more patients in need

We Need Your Help
There are still thousands of patients waiting for the cellular therapy that will save their life. As we endeavor to make cellular therapy a reality for every patient, we are grateful for the opportunity to share more about how you can help Be The Match SAVE LIVES.

Here's one brief story from a pediatric Be The Match patient, Leandra, who says:
"My donor didn't just give me a pint of her marrow or some of her time. She gave me another chance to see a tree, to hear my little brother laugh, to have another sleepover at a friend's house…a chance to live my dreams."

Join us, so we can help more patients like Leandra survive blood cancer and live their dreams.
