The Dallas Stars recognized four youth hockey teams from the North Texas Youth Hockey League on Saturday, April 7, for their performance in the US National Championships. Each of the following teams was recognized during the first intermission:

“Youth hockey in Texas has really grown since the Stars moved in 1993,” says Keith Andresen, Senior Director of Hockey Programs for the Dallas Stars. “It’s great to see several local teams competing across the country at a national level in all age groups. We’re extremely proud of these teams and their accomplishments.” This is the first time ever for three local teams to win at the National level.
The Dallas Stars Elite U16 group had a great season. After winning the Rocky Mountain District, the team advanced to the Tier I Nationals Championship Series where they fell to the Long Island Royals.
The Dallas Oilers U18 team, only in their second season as a franchise, claimed their Tier II AAA National title in a 2-1, triple overtime victory against the Sylvania (Ohio) Maple Leafs. The Oilers won all 6 games in the tournament for a combined total of 26-12.
The Dallas Ice Jets won the U14 Tier II AAA title in a 3-1 victory over the St. Lawrence Thunder. The Ice Jets won all 6 of their games in the tournament for a combined total score of 39-10.
With their 2012 Championship title, the Alliance Bulldogs U19 girls won their second straight National Championship. The girls completed their national tournament by winning the all six games of the tournament for a combined total score of 36-9, with a 5-2 win in their final game against the Colorado Tigers Elite Prep team.
Congratulations to all of these teams for their successful seasons and achievements.
