Dallas Stars forward Loui Eriksson scored two power play goals and assisted on an empty net goal as Sweden defeated Finland, 3-0, Saturday to advance to the gold medal game at the World Championship.
“I thought we played really good today,” Eriksson told IIHF.com. “We got some important goals on the power play, in the third period we kept them out of our zone pretty good and our goalie (Jhonas Enroth) played really good for us. We played a really good team game.”
Sweden will play Switzerland for the gold medal on Sunday.
Sweden opened the scoring at 10:33 of the first period. With the Swedes on the power play, Henrik Sedin put a shot on net from the right circle and it deflected off Eriksson’s leg and into the net.
Eriksson scored again on the power play at 16:13 of the second, taking a pass from Henrik Sedin and tallying on a wrist shot from the slot to make it a 2-0 game.
