DALLAS STARS REASSIGN DEFENSEMAN VISHNEVSKIY TO PEORIA
– The Dallas Stars announced today that the club has assigned defenseman Ivan Vishnevskiy to the Peoria Rivermen in the American Hockey League (AHL).Vishnevskiy was called up by the Stars on Dec. 31, but was a healthy scratch for three games.

Vishnevskiy, 20, has appeared in 32 games for Peoria this season, scoring three goals and nine assists for 12 points, good for second among Rivermen defensemen in assists and points.
Drafted by Dallas in the first round (No. 27 overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, Vishnevskiy played for the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) last season, scoring 45 points (17 goals, 28 assists) in 45 games. The 5-11, 176-pound defenseman also appeared in 17 playoff games for the Huskies, posting six assists with 16 penalty minutes.
The native of Barnaul, Russia, was named to the QMJHL Second All-Star Team in 2007-08, and he led all QMJHL rookie defensemen in scoring in 2005-06 with 48 points (13 goals, 35 assists). He skated for Russia in the 2006 ADT Canada-Russia Challenge, and participated in the 2006 CHL Top Prospects Game.
