Tyler Seguin a Game-time Decision vs. Oilers

by Mark Stepneski / Dallas Stars

Stars center Tyler Seguin continues to be bothered by that muscle issue that kept him out of a couple of recent practices. Seguin didn’t skate Saturday, and coach Lindy Ruff said the Stars No. 1 center is a game-time decision for this evening’s tilt with the Edmonton Oilers.

“Again we kept him off, so we’ll see where he is at,” Ruff said.

The Stars have an extra forward in Dustin Jeffrey if needed.

On the defensive side of things, Ruff said he hasn’t decided yet who will slide into the lineup to take the spot of Stephane Robidas, who is out 4-6 months following surgery for a leg fracture.

Jamie Oleksiak, Kevin Connauton and Aaron Rome all skated with backup goaltender Dan Ellis this morning at American Airlines Center. Rome is still dealing with a muscle issue, so he doesn’t appear to be an option right now. That leaves Oleksiak, who was called up from the AHL on Saturday, and Connauton, who has played one NHL game this season, as possibilities for tonight’s game.

“We’re going to dress them both for warm-up and then make a decision on what direction we want to go,” Ruff said.

Kari Lehtonen is the likely starter for the Stars. Ilya Bryzgalov is the confirmed starter for the Oilers.

“I had a long text conversation with him. I actually sent a picture of him when he scored the other night, and he was in Diller’s (Brenden Dillon’s) arms and I told him that Diller said he would carry you the rest of the year.”
