Day 3: Sept. 21, 2008Right Wing Loui Eriksson
Being the third day of camp, everyone seems to be settling into a nice routine. I woke up around 8 a.m. and ate some breakfast. I got here around 8:40 and had a little warm up to get ready for our practice at 10 a.m. We had a good skate with some drills and some breakouts. It was good, and it’s always good to get things going.
We scrimmaged again today at 11:15 a.m. It’s a chance for all the guys to prove themselves and show what they can to make the team. It’s always a fun game to play, too. It went well for me today, I had two goals in the game and ended up with the shootout winner. The Black Team, my group, Group B won today, so it’s 1-1 now after losing yesterday. Having the on-ice practice before the game helps a little bit because we got to warm up before the game, which we didn’t get to do yesterday. I think all the guys felt a little bit better today. It was definitely nice to get the win!
My linemates today, for the most part, were Francis Wathier
and Chris Conner. There were some different guys throughout the game too. We were switching things up and trying new combinations. As far as the new guys coming in to camp, I think they’re all doing a great job. I’ve been there, too, and it’s always a good chance to show the coaches and the staff here that they want to make the team. It’s tough because there’s a lot of competition and a lot of guys that want to play here. They just need to keep fighting and show everyone what they can do.
This is my fourth year here, so I’m starting to settle into camp pretty well. I’ve been here three times before so I know what’s going on here. But it’s always fun to get started and get ready for the season to start. Being my fourth year, I kind of feel in between being a veteran and one of the younger guys. I know a lot of the young guys, from playing with them in Iowa (AHL), but I know some of the older guys too now, that I’ve been here a while.
Alright, I’ve got to get going, my table tennis partner, Joel Lundqvist, is waiting for me! See you guys tomorrow. More Training Camp Blog Entries: Click Here >>
