Thursday update: Jamie Benn, Brenden Morrow out tonight

by Mark Stepneski / Dallas Stars

The Dallas Stars will be without forwards Jamie Benn and Brenden Morrow for tonight’s game against the Anaheim Ducks at American Airlines Center. Benn will miss his second game game with a wrist injury. Morrow will miss his third game with a groin issue.

“(Brenden) is not going to be an option for us tonight. He is very, very close. We have to be careful, but I would say that Saturday he’ll be a game player,” said Stars coach Glen Gulutzan. “(Benn) won’t be available tonight. He’s day-to-day. We’re hoping that Saturday he’ll be a player.”

On defense, Philip Larsen will be back in the lineup. It will be Larsen’s first game since February 23, when he suffered a shoulder injury after slamming hard into the boards during a game against San Jose. To make room for Larsen, the Stars will scratch Jamie Oleksiak.

Kari Lehtonen is in goal tonight.
