The Texas Stars went 1-1-0 over the past week during a two-game road trip to California. The Stars are 35-21-8 on the season and rank second in the AHL’s Pacific Division. In the ECHL, goaltender Philippe Desrosiers registered his first professional shutout with Idaho over the weekend. Here’s the latest on Dallas’ minor league affiliates.


Friday, March 11: Stockton 2, Texas 1

The Stars opened a back-to-back set at Stockton with a 2-1 loss to the Heat. Stockton built a 2-0 lead through two periods. Curtis McKenzie scored for Texas 49 seconds into the third to cut the lead to one, but the Stars couldn’t draw even. Maxime Lagace got the start in goal and stopped 35 of 37 shots.


Saturday, March 12: Texas 3, Stockton 2 (OT)

Brendan Ranford scored on the power play 1:14 into overtime to lift the Stars to a 3-2 victory at Stockton Saturday night. Ranford also chipped in two assists for the Stars, who got a 41-save effort from goaltender Maxime Lagace. Mattias Backman and Derek Hulak scored in regulation for Texas, which improved to 3-1-1 over its past five games.

*Stars forward Curtis McKenzie has registered 23 points (11 goals, 12 assists) in his past 19 games.

*Texas goaltender Maxime Lagace leads AHL rookie goaltenders with a .921 save percentage and ranks second in goals-against average (2.63) and second in wins (18).

*Texas forward Brendan Ranford is tied for fourth in the league in scoring with 52 points (17 goals, 35 assists) in 64 games.

*Texas center Justin Dowling has eight assists in five games since returning from injury.

Idaho Steelheads update

The Idaho Steelheads, Dallas’ ECHL affiliate, went 1-1-0 over the past week. The Steelheads are 34-21-7, ranking first in the West Division and third in the Western Conference. Philippe Desrosiers posted his first professional shutout, stopping 22 shots as Idaho defeated Rapid City, 3-0, Saturday. Desrosiers is 8-0-2 over his past ten starts with a 1.89 goals-against average and .924 save percentage.
