The Texas Stars went 1-1-1 over the past week and are 17-14-5 on the season, ranking fourth in the AHL’s Pacific Division. And Jack Campbell got off to a good start after being assigned to Idaho of the ECHL. Here’s the latest on Dallas’ minor league affiliates.


Thursday, December 31: Texas 6, San Diego 1

Gemel Smith scored two goals, and Jason Dickinson recorded one goal and one assist as Texas closed out the calendar year with a 6-1 win over San Diego at Cedar Park Center. Brendan Ranford, Derek Hulak and Remi Elie also scored for Texas, which built a 3-0 lead after one period and extended it to 5-0 after two. John Muse got the start in goal and stopped 26 of 27 shots.


Saturday, January 2: Stockton 7, Texas 6 (SO)

The Stars had a 6-3 lead late in the second period, but couldn’t maintain it and fell 7-6 in a shootout at Stockton on Saturday. The Heat scored on a 5-on-3 power play with 19 seconds left in the second period to make it a 6-4 game and then tallied on the remaining 5-on-4 advantage at the 22-second mark of the third to make it a 6-5 game. Three minutes later, the Heat scored at even strength and it stayed that way until extra playing time. Brendan Ranford scored twice for Texas in regulation. Remi Elie, Gemel Smith, Ludwig Bystrom and Matej Stransky also scored. John Muse got the start in goal and stopped 38 of 44 shots.


Sunday, January 3: San Jose 5, Texas 1

The Stars had a four-game points streak come to an end with a 5-1 loss at San Jose on Sunday. Dallas goaltending prospect Philippe Desrosiers made his AHL debut, stopping 19 of 24 shots. Jason Dickinson scored the lone goal for Texas.


Notes

*Texas center Travis Morin leads the AHL in scoring with 35 points (10 goals, 25 assists) in 36 games.

*Texas defenseman Esa Lindell ranks eighth in rookie scoring with 24 points (seven goals, 17 assists) in 36 games.

*Texas forward Jason Dickinson is tied for tenth in rookie scoring with 22 points (seven goals, 15 assists) in 34 games.

*Although he has been out since Dec. 11, Texas forward Devin Shore is still tied for second in the league in goal scoring with 15.

*Texas leads the AHL in goal scoring at 3.86 per game.

*Texas ranks last in the AHL in goals against at 3.61 per game.

Idaho Steelheads update

The Idaho Steelheads, Dallas’ ECHL affiliate, went 2-1-0 over the past week. The Steelheads, who are 8-1-1 in their past ten games, are 15-15-5 on the season and rank second in the ECHL’s West Division.

Goaltender Jack Campbell is 2-1-0 with a 1.67 goals-against average and .932 save percentage since being assigned to Idaho from the Texas Stars. Among his starts was a 28-save shutout in Idaho’s 1-0 victory over Colorado on Saturday.

Emil Molin, who scored the lone goal in that win over Colorado, registered four points (two goals, two assists) in three games over the past week. Molin has 29 points (13 goals, 16 assists) in 32 games. Molin ranks second on Idaho in both goals and assists.
