The Texas Stars went 3-0-1 over the past week to improve to 4-1-1 on the season. The Stars are currently in first place in the West Division and the Western Conference.

Some Texas players put up some big numbers over the past week. Travis Morin had 9 points (4 goals, 5 assists) in the four games and was named the CCM/AHL Player of the Week.

Colton Sceviour set a franchise mark for points in a game (5) in a 9-3 rout of Abbotsford on Sunday.

Chris Mueller picked up 8 points (3 goals, 5 assists) over the last three games for Texas.

Tuesday October 15: Oklahoma City 2, Texas 1 (OT)

The Stars opened last week with a 2-1 overtime loss at Oklahoma City. Sceviour scored the lone Texas goal, tying the game at 1-1 early in the third period. Oklahoma City’s Linus Omark scored the game-winner 32 seconds into overtime, and just seconds after Aaron Rome came out of the penalty box. Cristopher Nilstorp got the start in goal and stopped 34 of 36 shots.

Friday October 18: Texas 3, San Antonio 1

Mueller registered his first points as a Texas Star, scoring a goal and adding an assist as the Stars won 3-1 at San Antonio on Friday. Brendan Ranford also had a goal and an assist, and Morin scored an empty net goal to seal the victory. Nilstorp stopped 26 of 27 shots to earn his second straight victory.

Saturday October 19: Texas 6, San Antonio 0

Morin scored two goals and added an assist and Josh Robinson stopped all 26 shots he faced to earn a shutout in his AHL debut as the Stars routed San Antonio 6-0 at Cedar Park Center on Saturday. Mueller had one goal and two assists, Toby Petersen chipped in a goal and an assist and Ranford and defenseman William Wrenn also tallied. The Stars were 3-7 on the power play in the game.

Sunday October 20: Texas 9, Abbotsford 3

The Stars were down 3-1 midway through the game, but then rattled off eight unanswered goals to rout Abbotsford 9-3 at Cedar Park Center on Sunday. Sceviour scored three goals and added two assists for the Stars. His five points set a franchise record for most points in a game.

“We were on the bench and (Morin) mentioned to me after the third goal that it was a record. I didn’t know, and it was kind of cool,” Sceviour said. “I’ve never had a pro trick. Nothing official, I had one in the preseason for Dallas. Nothing in the regular season or anything like that, so it was cool.”

Morin had four points in the game, scoring one goal and assisting on three others. Mueller and Curtis McKenzie each had one goal and two assists. Cameron Gaunce, Mike Hedden and Matej Stransky also scored. It was the first professional goal for Stransky.

Nilstorp stopped 20 of 23 shots.
