Texas runs winning streak to three games with weekend sweep of Tucson

The Texas Stars went 2-0-0 over the past week, sweeping a weekend series with Tucson to run their winning streak to three games. The Stars, who improved to 23-20-3 on the season, are in fifth place in the AHL's Pacific Division. Goaltender Justin Peters continues to perform well since being acquired by Dallas in a trade with Arizona. And goaltenders Landon Bow and Philippe Desrosiers had good weeks in the ECHL. Here's the latest on the minor league affiliates of the Dallas Stars.

Friday, February 10: Texas 3, Tucson 2

Matt Mangene and Brandon DeFazio scored goals 26 seconds apart in the third period to put Texas ahead 3-1, and the Stars went on to defeat Tucson, 3-2, at H-E-B Center Friday night. Andrew Bodnarchuk also scored for Texas, and Gemel Smith registered two assists. Justin Peters stopped 25 of 27 shots to get the win in goal.

Saturday, February 11: Texas 6, Tucson 2

Texas made it three wins in a row, scoring four times on the power play in a 6-2 win over Tucson Saturday in Cedar Park. Travis Morin and Nick Ebert both had one goal and two assists. Julius Honka, Gemel Smith, Remi Elie and Matej Stransky also scored for Texas. Justin Peters stopped 26 of 28 shots. The game featured 130 total penalty minutes, including 50 minutes worth of fighting majors. 


*Goaltender Justin Peters is 3-1-0 with a 2.02 goals-against average and .926 save percentage since joining Texas.

*C Travis Morin has points in eight of his past nine games and has 12 points (five goals, seven assists) during that stretch.

*Morin ranks tenth in the AHL in scoring with 41 points (16 goals, 25 assists) in 46 games.

*C Gemel Smith has registered five points (one goal, four assists) in his past three games.

*D Dustin Stevenson ranks second in the AHL in penalty minutes (102) and is tied for second in major penalties (6).

Idaho Steelheads

The Idaho Steelheads went 2-1-0 over the past week. The Steelheads (26-17-7) are in third place in the ECHL's Mountain Division. Goaltender Landon Bow won both his starts last week, stopping 55 of 57 shots. Bow is 10-3-2 in the ECHL with a 2.51 goals-against average and .922 save percentage.

Goaltender Philippe Desrosiers, who is playing with Norfolk in the ECHL, won both his starts last week, stopping 63 of 66 shots. Desrosiers is 7-4-0 in the ECHL with a 3.50 goals-against average and .901 save percentage. He is 2-1-0 with Norfolk with a 2.35 GAA and .932 SV%.
