Denis Gurianov notches another game-winner as Texas takes two of three over past week

The Texas Stars won two of three games (2-1-0) over the past week to improve to 20-16-3 on the season. The Stars are in sixth place in the AHL's Pacific Division. Forward Denis Gurianov notched another game-winning goal for Texas and coach Derek Laxdal earned his 100th career AHL win. Here's the latest on the AHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars.

Wednesday, January 18: Texas 4, Manitoba 3

Denis Gurianov scored the game-winning goal for the second straight game as the Texas Stars defeated Manitoba, 4-3, in Cedar Park Wednesday night. Gurianov scored on a breakaway with 7:03 remaining in the third period to put Texas up 4-2 over the Moose. Gemel Smith, Julius Honka, and Jason Dickinson also scored for the Stars. Landon Bow stopped 24 of 27 shots to get the win in goal.

Friday, January 20: Texas 3, Iowa 2 (OT)

Nick Ebert scored two goals, including the game-winner 2:00 into overtime, to lift the Stars to a 3-2 win in Iowa on Friday. Iowa forced overtime by scoring with 5.3 seconds left in regulation. Matt Mangene also scored for the Stars, who won their third straight game and gave head coach Derek Laxdal his 100th career win in the AHL. Landon Bow stopped 24 of 26 shots.

Saturday, January 21: Iowa 3, Texas 2

Texas captain Travis Morin scored two goals and goaltender Landon Bow made a season-high 39 saves, but the Stars' three-game winning streak came to an end with a 3-2 loss at Iowa Saturday night. Morin's first goal of the game early in the second period tied the game 1-1, but Iowa scored the next two and held on for the win after Morin scored late in the third.


*Forward Denis Gurianov's game-winning goal against Manitoba was his third of the season. He ranks second on the team in game-winners. Matej Stransky leads Texas with four game-winning goals.

*Gurianov, Dallas' first-round pick (12th overall) in the 2015 NHL Draft, has recorded 16 points (6 goals, 10 assists) in his past 24 games.

*Center Travis Morin leads Texas with 32 points (13 goals, 19 assists) in 39 games.

*Right wing Matej Stransky leads Texas with 15 goals. Morin and left wing Brandon DeFazio are tied for second in goal scoring with 13.

*Defenseman Ludwig Bystrom leads Texas with a plus-13 rating. Defenseman Mattias Backman is next with a plus-12.
