The Texas Stars picked up five of a possible six points this week, going 2-0-0-1. The Stars are 30-14-4-4 and lead the American Hockey League with 68 points. The Stars’ .667 points percentage is second best in the league. Texas has picked up points in 16 of the last 19 games (13-3-1-2).
Tuesday February 12, Houston at Texas: Aeros 2, Stars 1 (SO)
The Stars opened a three-game homestand with a 2-1 shootout loss to Houston on Wednesday despite outshooting the Aeros 37-16. Patrik Nemeth scored the lone regulation goal for Texas, his first AHL goal. Cristopher Nilstorp made 15 saves. In the shootout, Houston scored on three of four shots, while Alex Chiasson scored the only goal on four attempts for Texas.
Friday February 15, Oklahoma City at Texas: Stars 4, Barons 3 (SO)
It was another shootout for the Texas Stars Friday night, and this time they came out on top, defeating Oklahoma City 4-3. Jack Campbell stopped nine of ten in the shootout and Alex Chiasson and Jamie Oleksiak scored for Texas in the skills competition. Oleksiak notched the winner in the tenth round.
Campbell stopped 28 of 31 shots in regulation. Mike Hedden scored twice in regulation for Texas and Justin Dowling also scored.
Saturday February 16, Oklahoma City at Texas: Stars 4, Barons 0
Campbell stopped 20 shots for his second shutout of the season and the third of his AHL career as the Stars defeated Oklahoma City, 4-0, before a sellout crowd of 6,863 at Cedar Park Center. Matt Fraser scored two power play goals for Texas. Dowling and Bretton Cameron also tallied.
