About the Stars

The Stars (27-23-9) lost 7-6 in overtime to Detroit Saturday night. The Stars had 4-2 and 6-4 leads in the third period, but couldn’t hold them. Niklas Kronwall scored 36 seconds into overtime to give Detroit the extra point.

“That’s the game. I think when you get a second chance at a two-goal lead, you have to shut it down,” said Stars forward Shawn Horcoff. “You have to be able to win those games and put them away, and obviously we weren’t able to do it.”

With the one point, the Stars moved to within five points of the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. They are four points behind Minnesota.

Sunday’s game kicks off a two-game road trip for the Stars, who play at Winnipeg on Tuesday as well.

Injuries: C Tyler Seguin (knee), RW Patrick Eaves (concussion), LW Travis Moen (upper body) and RW Valeri Nichushkin (hip) are out.

About the Wild

The Wild (30-21-7) won 4-0 at Edmonton Friday night behind a 15-save shutout from goaltender Devan Dubnyk. Since being acquired by the Wild on Jan. 14, Dubnyk has posted five shutouts in 16 games.

“That was just a really, really good road game by us, right from the get-go,” Dubnyk said. “We methodically chipped away at the game. We had good puck possession, and we were coming back on top of pucks and we didn't give them much of anything. We just played a great hockey game.”

Minnesota is 10-1-1 over its past 12 games and has outscored the opposition 34-17 during that stretch.

Sunday’s game kicks off a two-game homestand for the Wild.

Injuries: D Jared Spurgeon (concussion-like symptoms) is day to day. LW Jason Zucker (clavicle), LW Matt Cooke (sports hernia), C Ryan Carter (upper body) and D Keith Ballard (head) are out.
