About the Stars

The Stars (15-13-3) opened a five-game homestand with a 5-2 victory over Colorado on Saturday. The Stars scored 34 seconds into the game, and had a 4-0 lead by early in the second period.

“If we come to play and we play all 60 minutes, we’re a good hockey team,” said Stars defenseman Jordie Benn, who scored his first NHL goal in the game. “We’ve had some pretty good first periods and if we can get a good second and third period like we did tonight, you never know what can happen.”

It was the second straight win for the Stars, who moved into the top eight in Western Conference.

The Stars Sunday traded LW Brenden Morrow and a third round pick to Pittsburgh for D Joe Morrow and a fifth round pick.

Injuries: D Aaron Rome (foot) is questionable. F Ryan Garbutt (hand) is out.
