About the Stars

The Stars (1-0-0) opened the season with a 4-3 victory over Phoenix at American Airlines Center Saturday night.

The Stars received contributions from all three of their key offseason acquisitions. Jaromir Jagr had four points (two goals, two assists), Ray Whitney had a goal and an assist, and Derek Roy chipped in an assist.

“It’s always good, especially with these guys to come in,” said Dallas defenseman Stephane Robidas. “We knew what kind of players we were getting when they got them this summer. I’ve played against those guys and they’re extremely talented players. They compete hard and they just bring a different element to our team.”

Kari Lehtonen stopped 37 of 40 shots for the Stars.

Stars coach Glen Gulutzan was undecided on a goaltender for Sunday, but said he was leaning towards Cristopher Nilstorp.

Injuries: D Aaron Rome (groin) is day-to-day.
