Stars-Wild Notes

by Mark Stepneski / Dallas Stars

Stars coach Lindy Ruff said it was not a good night for the team’s group of defensemen, who had a couple of costly turnovers early in the game and had a hard time moving the puck throughout night in the 5-1 loss to the Minnesota Wild.

“We had players that need to play better. Obviously our defense didn’t play well tonight,” Ruff said. “We had a couple of guys that were pretty good, but I thought four of the six struggled moving the puck. The strength of the way we are built is we have to move pucks. When we don’t make plays coming out of our own end it obviously makes it tough to get through the neutral zone.”

The Stars juggled things up on defense at times during the game, breaking up the Alex Goligoski-Sergei Gonchar and Brenden Dillon-Stephane Robidas pairings. Goligoski played some with Robidas and Dillon and Gonchar were paired together at times.

Jordie Benn and Trevor Daley played together most of the game and ended up leading the Stars in ice time for the game.
