DALLAS STARS SIGN CENTER TOM WANDELL TO THREE-YEAR DEAL

FRISCO, Tex. -- Dallas Stars General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today that the club has signed center Tom Wandell to a three-year deal through the 2009-10 season.

"Tom is a player that we've monitored since drafting him in 2005 and believe can make an impact within the depth of our organization," said Armstrong. "We look forward to watching him develop over the next three years."

Wandell, 20, appeared in 50 games with Assat Pori of the Finnish Elite League last season, collecting six goals and six assists for 12 points with 20 penalty minutes. The 6-1, 183-pound center ranked ninth on the team in goals and tied for 10th in points.

Dallas' fifth round draft selection (146th overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, Wandell was born in Sodertalje, Sweden. In 2004-05 with Sodertalje of the Swedish Junior League, he played in five games and registered one goal and two assists for three points with four penalty minutes.
