FRISCO, Tex. - Dallas Stars General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today that the club has signed forward Marius Holtet to a three-year contract. Per club policy, no financial terms of the deal were disclosed.

"Marius is a skilled forward who can skate extremely well," said Assistant General Manager Les Jackson. "We look forward to bringing him over here and developing him into a solid professional hockey player."

Holtet, 19, appeared in 43 games last season with Bofors of the Allsvenskan Swedish League. In 43 games with Bofors, he registered 11 goals and three assists for 14 points with 90 penalty minutes. Among team leaders, he ranked first in penalty minutes and tied for sixth in goals.

A second round selection (42nd overall) by the Stars in 2002, Holtet appeared in 14 outings during the 2002-03 campaign with Bofors. He collected one goal and one assist for two points with eight penalty minutes. The 6-0, 183-pound left wing produced his best junior season with Farjestad in 2001-02, posting 12 goals and six assists for 18 points with 52 penalty minutes in 32 contests.
