DALLAS STARS SIGN CENTER AARON GAGNONFRISCO, Tex. -- Dallas Stars General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today that the club has signed center Aaron Gagnon (pronounced GAN-yon) to a three-year deal. Gagnon will continue playing the remainder of the season with his junior team in the Western Hockey League (WHL), the Seattle Thunderbirds.
Seattle's (WHL) Leading Scorer Signed to Three-Year Deal
Gagnon, 20, has appeared in 40 games with Seattle this season, recording 26 goals and 28 assists for 54 points with 44 penalty minutes. Among team leaders, he ranks first in goals, assists, points, power play goals (12) and tied for second in plus/minus (+16). This is the third straight season that he has led Seattle in scoring.
Over his six seasons (from 2001-2007) with Seattle, Gagnon has appeared in 299 games and posted 107 goals, 111 assists for 218 points with 156 penalty minutes. In 34 playoff games with the Thunderbirds, he has registered 12 goals and 10 assists for 22 points with 26 penalty minutes. Originally drafted by the Phoenix Coyotes in the eighth round (240th overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, he is a 5-10, 189 pound center from Armstrong, British Columbia.
