About the Stars

The Stars (20-17-3) ran their winning streak to four games with a 5-2 win at Nashville on Friday. The Stars scored on two of their first three shots to build a 2-0 lead in the game and never looked back.

“We needed these points as much as anyone and we wanted to get on them early,” said Stars center Vernon Fiddler, who had two assists in the game. “They’ve been struggling a little bit and we know how hard they work. We had some good jump off the start, got a little bit of a lead and built off that all night.”

With the win, the Stars moved into ninth place in the Western Conference and are two points behind eighth-place Detroit. A win Saturday against the Sharks would put the Stars in eighth based on the regulation/overtime wins tiebreaker.

Injuries: G Kari Lehtonen (groin) is questionable. LW Lane MacDermid (chest) is out.
