Dallas Stars General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today that the club has recalled left wing Mathias Tjarnqvist from the Utah Grizzlies, the Stars' primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Tjarnqvist, 24, appeared in 56 games with the Utah Grizzlies this season, registering 14 goals and 13 assists for 27 points. He currently ranks tied for second on the team in goals, second in power play goals (6) and fifth in points (27). In 16 games with the Stars this year, Tjarnqvist notched two points (1-1-2). The 6-1, 183-pound left wing made his NHL debut on Nov. 12 vs. Detroit. He recorded his first NHL point on Nov. 21 vs. Los Angeles and his first NHL goal on Nov. 26 at Minnesota. His goal in Minnesota proved to be the game-winner.
