DALLAS STARS RECALL DEFENSEMAN NIKLAS GROSSMAN
FROM IOWA UNDER EMERGENCY CONDITIONS
FRISCO, Tex. -- Dallas Stars General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today that the club has recalled defenseman Niklas Grossman under emergency conditions from the Iowa Stars, Dallas' primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Grossman, 21, has appeared in 63 games with the Iowa Stars this season, registering two goals and eight assists for 10 points with a team-leading +6 rating and 40 penalty minutes. The native of Stockholm, Sweden, made his NHL debut on Dec. 2 vs. Minnesota, and in four games for Dallas this season, has posted four penalty minutes with a -1 rating and two shots on goal.
The 6-3, 206-pound defenseman played in his first professional season with Iowa last season, collecting five points (2 goals, 3 assists) with 49 penalty minutes in 61 games. Dallas' second round selection (No. 56 overall) in the 2004 Entry Draft, Grossman served as the captain for Team Sweden at the 2005 World Junior Championships. He spent the 2004-05 campaign with Sodertalje in the Swedish Elite League, posting two assists and 14 penalty minutes in 31 appearances.
