Assign Lundqvist to Iowa

FRISCO, Tex. – Dallas Stars General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today that the club has recalled left wing Chris Conner from the Iowa Stars and assigned center Joel Lundqvist to Iowa, Dallas’ primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).

Conner, 23, has appeared in 11 games with Iowa this season, recording three goals and six assists for nine points with a 4 rating. He ranked first on the club in plus/minus, second in points and third in assists.

During the 2007 preseason with Dallas, Conner played in five games and led all Stars players in points (9), tied for first in goals (3) and ranked second in assists (6). Last season with the Stars, he notched three points (1-2-3) in 11 outings. He posted his first career NHL goal on Dec. 27 at Colorado.

The 5-8, 180-pound left wing attended Michigan Tech University from 2002 – 2006. During his senior year, Conner totaled 29 points (17-12-29) good for the team-best in goals and points. The Westland, Michigan, native ended his career with the Huskies as the school’s all-time leader in shorthanded goals (15) and ranked 19th among goal-scorers (69).

Lundqvist, 25, has played in 11 games with Dallas, registering two goals and two assists for four points. The 6-1, 194-pound center produced his second career multi-point game on Oct. 10 vs. Los Angeles when he notched a goal and an assist.

During his first professional hockey season in 2006-07, Lundqvist split the season between Iowa and Dallas. Leading the Stars in face-off percentage (57-91, 62.6%), he posted six points (3-3-6) in 36 games with the NHL club. In just 40 games with Iowa, he tallied 16 goals and 22 assists for 38 points. The Are, Sweden, native also played in all seven playoff games with Dallas, tying for first on the club in goals (2).
