About the Stars

The Stars (1-1-0) are coming off a 6-5 loss at Colorado Saturday. The Stars jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period, but the Avalanche scored five straight goals to go up 5-2, and the Stars could never catch up.

"We didn't do enough to win a hockey game and didn't deserve to win," said Stars captain Jamie Benn. "When you score five and give up six, that is unacceptable. We've got things to clean up."

Antti Niemi made his second straight start Saturday but was pulled in the second period after allowing five goals on 20 shots. Kari Lehtonen played the rest of the way, stopping 12 of 13 shots.

Stars forward Jiri Hudler did not practice Monday due to illness and is doubtful for Tuesday.

After Tuesday's game, the Stars will play their next three games at home.

Injuries: RW Jiri Hudler (illness) is doubtful. RW Alex Hemsky (groin), C Cody Eakin (knee) and C/LW Mattias Janmark (knee) are on injured reserve.

About the Predators

The Predators (1-1-0) are coming off a 5-3 loss at Chicago Saturday. The Blackhawks scored three goals in just under four minutes to open a 3-0 lead in the first period, and the Predators couldn't recover.

"There were a couple of fortunate bounces for them, and it makes the period look worse than it was," Nashville coach Peter Laviolette told media after the game. "I thought our guys played hard, out-shot them, out-chanced them and did a lot of good things. We had a big goal at the end of the [first] period but you're sitting on a 3-1 deficit, against a good hockey team, that's hard to come back from."

The Predators split a home-and-home series with Chicago to open the season.

The Predators announced Monday that D Anthony Bitetto will be out 4-6 six weeks with an upper-body and that forward Miikka Salomaki will be out 6-8 weeks with an upper-body injury.

Defenseman P.K. Subban acquired in a trade with Montreal in the offseason, has one goal and one assist in his first two games with the Predators.

Injuries: D Anthony Bitetto (upper body) and F Miikka Salomaki (upper body) are out.
