Stars forward Shawn Horcoff’s return to Edmonton is now behind him. During the first TV timeout of the game the Oilers played a video tribute to Horcoff, who played 12 seasons for the Oilers and was the team’s captain from 2010 to 2013.
“The tribute was real nice,” Horcoff said. “The respect from the fans was great. I am just glad it is all over and that we got the win.”
Horcoff got a nice ovation from the Edmonton crowd.
“I didn’t know what was going to happen. You never know here,” Horcoff said. “I’ve heard them boo a lot of quality players. I actually expected more boos than that, it was a nice show of respect and I really appreciate that.”
Center Travis Morin, called up from the AHL due to the injury to Ray Whitney, was in the lineup for the Stars Wednesday night. He centered a line with Antoine Roussel and Ryan Garbutt. Morin played 6:01, had no points, no shots on goal, was a plus-one and won two of four faceoffs in the game.
