Stars Lose Trevor Daley to Injury

by Mark Stepneski / Dallas Stars

The Dallas Stars are already without defenseman Stephane Robidas for 4-6 months due to a leg fracture, and now it appears they could be without Trevor Daley for a while as well.

The Stars lost Daley early in the second period of Thursday night’s game in Toronto when he and Maple Leafs forward James van Riemsdyk got tangled up while battling for the puck. Daley went down and then slid into the end boards.

Daley had to be helped off the ice. He did not return to the game and the Stars said he had a lower body injury.

“He’s got an injury that looks like it’s going to be a little bit of time,” said Stars coach Lindy Ruff. “Our people will evaluate it, but I can just tell you that it’s going to be nothing that is going to be short-term.”

Stars defenseman Aaron Rome is out as well. He has what the Stars call a muscle issue.

Seguin returns, Garbutt out

Tyler Seguin returned to the lineup after missing the last two games with concussion-like symptoms. Seguin, who centered Jamie Benn and Rich Peverley, had no points, logged 21:45 of ice time and had seven shots on goal.

Stars forward Ryan Garbutt, who took a puck off his foot and sat out the third period in Tuesday’s game at Chicago, did not play Thursday in Toronto. Dustin Jeffrey took his spot on the line with Antoine Roussel and Vernon Fiddler.

Jordie Benn was a healthy scratch on defense in Thursday’s game. Kevin Connauton and Jamie Oleksiak were both in the lineup against the Maple Leafs.

“[Connauton] skated well and was in on a few chances. Maybe playing a few games in a row will give him a little bit of confidence,” Stars coach Lindy Ruff said. “Oleksiak stepped in and played a real strong game for us for a young D, too.”
