Stars Lose Aaron Rome to Lower Body Injury

by Mark Stepneski / Dallas Stars

The Dallas Stars suffered another injury on the blue line Monday night in Denver, losing defenseman Aaron Rome in the first period.

Rome left about 14 minutes into the game after getting tangled up with Colorado forward Jamie McGinn near the benches. The Stars announced he had a lower body injury.

“It’s the same [injury] that he suffered in practice about ten days ago,” Stars coach Lindy Ruff said. “It looks like he is going to be out.”

Rome, who missed the start of the season due to offseason hip surgeries, was playing in just his third game of the season.

The Stars are already without defensemen Stephane Robidas (broken leg) and Trevor Daley (high-ankle sprain).

Jordie Benn, who was a healthy scratch Monday, is likely to slide back into the lineup Tuesday night against Colorado.

Quotable: Lindy Ruff

“Every goal was the result of us turning the puck over or just bad coverage. We’ve got some young defense that are playing in some bigger places, and I’ve got to get them in a better spot because we lost a guy (Aaron Rome) early and guys needed to step up. A couple of them were just simple coverage plays that we let people go, and it hurt us bad.”
