Stars look to get on a roll at home

by Mark Stepneski / Dallas Stars

The Dallas Stars kick off a four-game homestand Tuesday and they are hoping to make the most of it. With nine of their next 11 games at home, they see this stretch of games as key as they try put themselves in a position for a playoff spot in the Western Conference over the second half of this abbreviated season.

“We know that we are at a point now where we’ve got these home games and we’ve got to take advantage of them,” said defenseman Alex Goligoski. “We have a great opportunity here. We have nine of our next eleven at home, so we’ve got to get rolling here.”

There isn’t much separating a lot of the teams ranked from fourth place to eleventh in the Western Conference, just four points after Monday’s games. But Dallas coach Glen Gulutzan sees a difference between his Stars and the teams they are chasing in the West, and that’s the record at home.

The Stars are 5-4-1 at American Airlines Center, and their .550 points percentage at home ranks 12th in the conference. On the road, where they are 7-6-1, they rank fifth in the West with a .536 points percentage.
