About the Stars
The Stars (39-31-10) won 5-1 at San Jose Monday. It was second straight win for the Stars and gave them a 12-5-0 mark in their past 17 games. Despite the good run, the Stars were eliminated from the playoff picture when Winnipeg defeated Minnesota Monday night.
“It's kind of frustrating," Stars defenseman Jason Demers said. "It's nice to see how we can play, but we put ourselves behind the eight ball. You think back to games you gave up earlier in the season.”
Jamie Benn had two goals and one assist in Monday’s win, and goaltender Jhonas Enroth stopped 23 shots for his second consecutive victory.
Wednesday wraps up a three-game road trip for the Stars, who are 2-0-0 in the first two games.
About the Ducks
The Ducks (50-23-7) last played Friday, losing 4-2 to Colorado at Honda Center. The Ducks led 2-1 after one period, but the Avalanche scored the final three goals of the game including an empty-netter. The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for Anaheim.
“The sense of urgency is a big thing," Ducks defenseman Francois Beauchemin told the team’s website. “We only have two games left before the playoffs. Obviously, we did some good things the last four games, but tonight wasn’t good enough. We gave up way too many odd-man rushes against, and too many penalties. We need to be more disciplined, especially with the playoffs coming up. We can’t keep taking three, four or five penalties a game.”
Wednesday is the final regular season home game for Anaheim.
Injuries: LW Matt Beleskey (lower body) and RW Tim Jackman (lower body) are probable. D Clayton Stoner (lower body) is questionable.
