About the Stars

The Stars (3-4-0) lost 5-2 at Los Angeles Saturday night. The two teams were tied 2-2 heading into the third period, but the Kings scored early in the final 20 minutes to take the lead and added two late goals to seal the victory.

“Luckily, we were in the game until the third, but if you keep giving them chance after chance a team like that is going to break through,” said Stars forward Rich Peverley, who had one goal and one assist.

The Stars will have a quick turnaround, playing at Anaheim at 5 p.m. Pacific time on Sunday.

“We’ve got to forget about this one, obviously,” said Stars captain Jamie Benn, who had two assists. “We’ve got to take the positives out of it, learn from our mistakes, try to forget about it and start preparing for (Sunday).”

The Stars have lost three of their last four games.

Who will start in goal for the Stars on Sunday is up in the air.

Injuries: G Kari Lehtonen (lower body) is doubtful. D Aaron Rome (hip) is on a conditioning assignment.

About the Ducks

The Ducks (6-1-0) ran their winning streak to six games with a 3-2 shootout victory over Phoenix Friday night at Honda Center. Teemu Selanne had a goal in regulation and tallied in the shootout. Jonas Hiller stopped 32 shots in the game and three of six in the shootout.

"Today maybe wasn't our best game again, but we played really good defensively, and we didn't give up too many chances," said Ducks forward Jakob Silfverberg, who scored the shootout winner. "We have great goaltending, and that's been taking us to a couple of wins in the last couple of games."

Sunday’s game wraps up a five game homestand for the Ducks, who will open an eight game road trip in Toronto on Tuesday.

Injuries: G Viktor Fasth (lower body) is day to day. D Sheldon Souray (wrist), D Luca Sbisa (ankle) and LW Matt Beleskey (upper body) are out.
