About the Stars

The Stars (16-15-3) are coming off a 3-2 loss to Los Angeles Sunday night at American Airlines Center Sunday night. The Stars were outshot 31-8 through the first two periods and 40-15 in the game by the Kings, who had played the night before in Minnesota.

“We need to amp up our level. We are fighting for our lives,” said Stars coach Glen Gulutzan. “If we think with performances like that, we are going to stroll in, we are mistaken.”

“What’s most disappointing is the way we came out. It looked like we were the team that played back-to-back and had to travel. There’s no excuse for that,” said Stars defenseman Stephane Robidas. “They come out strong. It’s our building. It’s a game that is there for us. They were supposed to be the tired team and it was the other way around. It’s disappointing.”

Monday’s game kicks off a stretch of three straight tilts against the Ducks, the first one in Dallas and the other two in Anaheim (Wednesday and Friday).

The Stars enter Monday night’s game in 10th place in the Western Conference, two points out of the eighth and final playoff spot.

Injuries: C Vernon Fiddler (charley horse) and F Ryan Garbutt (hand) are out.
