Stars coach Lindy Ruff said he’ d like to get Dan Ellis a start soon, but it doesn’t look like it will be tonight against the Anaheim Ducks.
Kari Lehtonen was the first goaltender off the ice at Tuesday morning’s skate, indicating he will make his 15th consecutive start when the Stars take on the Ducks at American Airlines Center. Jonas Hiller will be in net for the Ducks.
The Stars activated left wing Ray Whitney from injured reserve Tuesday morning. Whitney will return to the lineup tonight after missing the last five games with a groin injury. He is expected to play on a line with Cody Eakin and Alex Chiasson. Whitney also is expected to see time on the Stars power play.
“We know that Ray has always been a good power play guy,” Ruff said. “Before he was hurt he had a lot great opportunities, but he was a little snakebit like some of our guys. I believe if the zone time keeps going up and the amount of attempts to the net keeps going up, the puck will start going in.”
The Stars power play is 3-38 over the last 11 games overall and is 1-29 at home this season.
Quotable: Teemu Selanne on the Stars
“Obviously they refreshed their lineup and their management also. So they are just building their identity here. They’ve got some pretty good players here. It looks like they are committed to a big step forward. It’s always a good sign when the organization wants to win. They’re always a dangerous team.”
