About the Stars

The Stars (12-9-2) are coming off a 5-2 win at Los Angeles on Thursday. It was the second straight win for the Stars and their fourth in the last six games (4-1-1). The Stars, who were outshot 33-22 in the game and lost 41 of 60 faceoffs, outscored the Kings 4-0 over the final 22 minutes of the game.

“I like where we are as a team,” Stars coach Glen Gulutzan said Friday. “Obviously you want to win battles, but that is a battle-tested team. They almost walked through the Stanley Cup last year. They’re big and heavy, they had a win streak and to get points out of there, we’re happy with that. Faceoffs were a big issue for us, and that is something we have to address. But overall, we played an aggressive game, we played with pace and we matched them in quality scoring opportunities.”

Stars captain Brenden Morrow, who scored the game-winning goal, left midway through the final period after tweaking his groin. He is questionable for Saturday.

The Stars recalled LW Matt Fraser from the Texas Stars of the AHL on Friday.

Kari Lehtonen will start in goal Saturday.

Injuries: LW Brenden Morrow (groin) is questionable. D Philip Larsen (shoulder) is day-to-day. D Aaron Rome (foot) and LW Ray Whitney (foot) are out.
