About the Stars

The Stars (31-23-10) had their game vs Columbus Monday night postponed 6:23 into the first period after forward Rich Peverley collapsed on the bench. Peverley was in stable condition and resting comfortably at a Dallas hospital Monday evening.

“We treated him for a cardiac event, successfully treated with standard therapy,” said Dr. Gil Salazar of UT Southwestern Emergency Medicine. “As soon as we treated him, he regained consciousness. He was alert and awake talking to us after the event and quickly transported to the hospital.”

Doctors said it is too early to determine the long-term outlook for Peverley, who will undergo evaluation in the days ahead.

The league will make a decision about the remainder of Monday’s game at a later date.

The Stars enter Tuesday’s contest in the eighth and final playoff spot in the West, one point ahead of Phoenix.

Tuesday’s game will begin a stretch where Dallas will play four of the next five on the road.

Injuries: G Kari Lehtonen (head) and F Rich Peverley (heart) are out.

About the Blues

The Blues (44-14-6) won their fifth straight game, defeating Minnesota, 3-2, in a shootout Sunday in St. Paul. The Blues squandered a 2-0 lead in the game, but T.J. Oshie and Alexander Steen scored in the shootout and Brian Elliot stopped Minnesota’s Zach Parise and Mikko Koivu.

“Third game in four nights, we showed some tired legs,” Blues coach Ken Hitchcock said. “It was good we got a 2-0 lead so we could manage our minutes a little bit. I thought we made some tired decisions sometimes with the puck.”

Sunday’s game wrapped up a three-game road trip for the Blues, who will play their next two at home.

The Blues enter Tuesday’s game one point ahead of Anaheim for the best record in the league.

Injuries: F Vladimir Sobotka (leg) and Jordan Leopold (ankle) are out.
