Stars-Blues Notes

by Mark Stepneski / Dallas Stars

For the second straight game the Stars received a strong dose of secondary scoring. Colton Sceviour scored two goals and Cody Eakin and Antoine Roussel also scored in Saturday’s 4-2 win over the St. Louis Blues.

Over the last five games, which the Stars have won four, 16 of the 18 goals have been scored by guys other than top line big guns Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn. In the seven games before that Seguin and Benn had scored 12 of the team’s 21 goals.

“If you can get that secondary scoring, which again tonight was real important for us, it takes the pressure off that [top] line that’s been carrying us for the last six or seven weeks,” said Stars coach Lindy Ruff.

Rome leaves game

Stars defenseman Aaron Rome left the game in the second period and did not return. There was no official word from the Stars, but according to the team’s television broadcast he left due to a lower body injury.
