If there was a positive for the Stars in their 6-2 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks it was the play of forward Antoine Roussel, who scored both Dallas goals, was a plus-2 and registered a game-high nine hits.
Both Roussel goals came from his going to the front of the net. Roussel has scored five goals over the last seven games.
“He’s the one bright spot,” said Stars coach Lindy Ruff. “They hate him, they hate playing against him. I think that is a tribute to the way he played. He got rewarded for being in some dirty areas in front of the net. He’s playing hard for us and he’s playing the type of game the opposition doesn’t like to see. I admire the way he works in the game. “
Roussel also picked up 16 minutes in penalties, 14 of which came late when he got in a scrum with Blackhawks forward Jeremy Morin. Roussel got minors for cross-checking and roughing and a ten minute misconduct.

“We thought we might struggle in some situations with the defense we have out. I thought the other night they gave us a pretty solid game. I thought tonight our defense struggled. I thought they struggled with the playmaking part, getting the puck up ice. Our transition game wasn’t very good. In some defending situations we defended really poorly. We’ve got to be better than that. We know we can be better. We just flat out got outworked. You won’t win games. We’ve taken a lot of pride in being in every game, trying to outwork the opposition every game, outskate the opposition. That didn’t happen tonight. There wasn’t much to like and it was a group effort.”
