Dallas Stars General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today that the National Hockey League club has activated center Mike Modano from the team's injured reserve list. Modano is a game-time decision for this evening's contest at Calgary (9 p.m., CT).
Modano, 33, was placed on the injured reserve list on January 9, retroactive to January 2 when he suffered a groin injury vs. Phoenix. He has missed the last six games due to the injury.
In 40 games this season, Modano has registered eight goals and 17 assists for 25 points with 40 penalty minutes. He has posted assists in six of his last seven games played (2-6-8).
Modano is the Stars' all-time leader in goals (452), assists (635), points (1,087), games played (1,065), game-winning goals (71), and shorthanded goals (27). Modano is one of only two U.S. born players to record 400 goals and 600 assists over a career (also Jeremy Roenick), and is the only NHL player to lead his team in assists and points in each of the past five seasons (1998-2003).
The Stars (19-19-8-0) continue their current road trip Saturday night at Calgary (9 p.m., FSN). The club will then be at Vancouver on Monday (9 p.m., kdfi 27) and at Edmonton on Tuesday (8 p.m., FSN).
